DADDY - DOUGIE DATE

As part of our Christmas present our children bought Kerrie and I season tickets to the Hale Centre Theatre. We have had season tickets for several years and have really enjoyed them. This past year however, a huge chunk of our income went to medical expense and I wasn't quite sure how we were going to justify spending the extra money. I'm extremely grateful for our AWESOME!!! children, and truly appreciate them purchasing tickets for us.

Anyway, back on topic...
We had tickets to tonight's production, however, Kerrie is in Texas so she wasn't able to be my date. Doug said that he would be my "date" and go with me to dinner and the play. I enjoyed being with him and we had a great time.
The musical we saw is Civil War. It is an excellent and very moving play, in fact, it is probably the second most touching play I have seen. Not only were the performers voices truly amazing, but the story was history of actual events. I think it had a particularly large impact on me tonight because our family visited some of the locations the Civil War took place last August.
Having seen the battle fields, and then tonight watching the scenes portrayed and stories of the people reenacted, was very moving. I absolutely loved this musical and highly recommend it to anyone that has the opportunity to go see it. Unfortunately, the run at Hale Centre Theatre ends April 5th, but if you have the opportunity to see in a different venue, do it.
A bonus for seeing it at this time at Hale Centre Theatre, is the fact that Merrill Osmond is one of the two main characters.
*As a side note to my friend and sister-in-law: I really wish they had a soundtrack of the music because Reese, you would be in heaven... literally! Living in Virginia / DC among many of the locations where the history took place... wow! I may have to do some additional checking around.
Well, that's it for tonight, or I should say morning as it is 1:20 AM on Easter Sunday. :o) Take care, and we'll connect again very soon.
