MAY 15-16 2009

On Thursday new windows were installed in our home. A couple of years ago we replaced the windows downstairs, and we needed to have the upstairs replaced. When our home was built, the standard was to use single pane windows with an aluminum frame. Somewhere along the line, one of the owners installed storm windows on most of the windows upstairs, but they were not doing a good job at keeping the cold out and heat in. They were definitely not energy efficient, and were really hard to clean. -We needed new windows. Below are pictures, the are the old windows, and below that the new windows.

The living room.
The 'before' picture was taken 2 years ago when a new roof was installed.

South window of our room on the left, bathroom on the right.

West windows of our room and Jamie's.

This is what's behind the shades.

Kitchen on the left, Kitchen sliding door center, and mud room bathroom on the right.

A closer look at the new sliding glass door off the kitchen.

I don't have a before picture that is close enough to really see anything on these, so I will simply include the new windows. The one on the left is Tyson's room, and on the right is Jamie's window on the North side.

This is the view from the driveway.

I'm sure we will enjoy the new windows for many years! :0)

Tyson took me up to the shooting range this afternoon (Saturday) so that I could shoot his 9mm pistol. I had never shot a pistol before, and it was kind of fun. Tyson paid quite a bit for the gun, and the ammo is pretty expensive, but we had a good time and I appreciate him taking me. As you can tell by the way I held the gun, it was my first time. ;o) Tyson is pretty good!

Last fall Kerrie's dad build one of the two gardening boxes below. The other one he built this spring. They are pretty nice for growing quite a bit in a relatively small space. Kerrie's parent's have had some boxes and have really enjoyed. Kerrie's mom is a Master Gardener and helped Kerrie plant several different types of vegetables and tomatoes in the boxes. They also planted potatoes in a planter not in the picture. The veggies will be great come harvest time!
