The video below is from You Tube, and the notes state it was taken by permission of David while performing and speaking at a recent fireside.
I think that this young man has an amazing gift of voice and song, which on its own merit deserves great accolade and attention, however, there is an additional bonus for each of us, Mormon and non-Mormon alike. David is a young man with pure ideals, values, goals, and desires to do what is right and good. . . and he is LDS.
I don't mean to give the impression that I know David Archuleta personally, although I would love to because I admire his amazing talents and great spirit. I have however, watched countless performances and interviews David has done with the media and news organizations, as well as on his personal/official Myspace page. I sincerely believe this kid is genuine and true to his beliefs and desires for success both in music and in life. I watched American Idol with anticipation and excitement as David became very successful in the competition. As he has stated several times in interviews, he is truly content with the success that he has achieved and continues to enjoy, as well he should be.
As I imagine most of you are aware that David will record a single before too long, and should have a CD out before the end of the year. I propose that the world would be a better place if we all support this young man in his endeavors and goals. I am not suggesting that purchasing his music will in any way solve all of the worlds ills, HOWEVER, I do believe that one person, or even one simple act for good, makes a difference. I'm sure you'll agree that David is a musically gifted young man, and is someone that is and can be even more so than he currently is, a great roll model for all young men and women. People whom live life as we would like to have ourselves and others, are roll models, and are very rare in today's world.
I will be supporting David Archuleta, not only because I enjoy his talent and music-- which I definitely do, but because I think it is increasingly important to encourage and support young people that we ourselves, our children, and our grand-children, can look up to and admire, use as roll models.
Okay, enough of the sales pitch (and preaching)... pause the music on the sidebar, and play the video. :-)
